Vary Tech Launches Plastic Waste-to-Naphtha Package for Asia Pacific Zero-Waste Chemical Manufacturing Market

11th May 2026, at IFAT Munich, Vary Tech unveiled a complete chain process package, which is developed in collaboration with Evonik and SupeZET. Chemically transforms waste plastics into plastic pyrolysis oil (PPO) and circular naphtha. It encompasses all aspects of the package, from feedstock pretreatment to continuous pyrolysis to deep purification to product offtake for waste. That cannot be mechanically recycled, consisting of a blend of PP and PE waste.

It all starts with Vary’s oxygen-free pyrolysis, which has evolved and been fine-tuned after 6 iterations in 20 years. A single unit can process 150 tons per day and works over 8,000 hours per year. Then, the oil is transferred to Evonik's Rocket module for upgrading and removing impurities before being finalised by hydrogenation and fractionation in SupeZET. The production standard complies with that of international petroleum spinners, per the companies. This means it can be fed into global petrochemical or low-carbon fuel value chains.

Alongside the launch, Vary Tech and SupeZET agreed to set up CARBON LOOP SYSTEMS PTE. LTD. in Singapore, which will work on chemical plastic recycling and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from biomass. The new business, Evonik in Germany and Singapore's JE Synergy, also entered into an MOU to develop what they call the first closed-loop chemical recycling demonstration project for recycling plastic post-consumer waste from a low-value municipal plastic waste stream in Asia. The project is designed to help Singapore reach the Zero Waste Masterplan.

Product Relevance in Zero-Waste Chemical Manufacturing

The package addresses a challenge many chemical manufacturers in the region face today. There is a high rate of landfilling and incineration of plastic, where it is either too dirty or does not meet the quality requirements needed for mechanical recycling. Here, it is recycled as a feedstock for producers, to be used in the production of a petrochemical instead of fossil-based naphtha. This helps to keep the carbon cycle going. At the heart of zero-waste manufacturing is the principle that each process ends up using the materials that each process has produced as waste.

Regulation drives this push. The release further references increased recycling requirements such as the EU PPWR, France's AGEC Law and India's Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules 2026, and emphasises the need to have a consistent supply of good-quality feedstocks, rather than just pyrolysis products, from the industry. Waste tires, oil sludge, industrial hazardous waste and medical waste, as well as Vary Tech's own pyrolysis lines, have been successfully used with wastes, and Vary Tech states it has delivered over 100 commercial pyrolysis lines globally.

According to Towards Chem & Materials, the Asia Pacific zero-waste chemical manufacturing market size was valued at USD 19 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow from USD 21.14 billion in 2026 to USD 55.18 billion by 2035, exhibiting a CAGR of 11.25% during the forecast period.
